Choosing the Ideal Flooring For Your Home- By: Annie Deakin

Description : When you are moving into a new home you will want to make sure that everything is perfect and to your liking. You might find that the flowing used is horrible and you want to change it. But what do you change it to? There are many flooring options and you should think about the pros and cons of each before making up your mind.

First of all you can choose tiles. This will look neat and clean and give your place a modern feel depending on the design of the tiles. There is also the benefit during the summer months of keeping your home cool. Of course in winter you will have the opposite problem. You could always choose to place a rug down when it is cold. Tiles are easy to clean and do not hold bacteria.

Another flooring option is carpets. You can get long pile or short pile carpets and the short pile ones are the top choice for most people. You don t have the luxury of the long pile, but again, these are easier to keep clean, especially if you have children or pets. The great thing about choosing the carpets is that your place will be warm and cozy. It is also safer if you have babies or young children who might get hurt on tiles.

Wooden floors are the third option. These are great looking and can give great character to a home. They are expensive if you want to get Oregon or another real wood. You can get laminate wood options but these can be fake looking. The wood is also fairly easy to clean although it will take more to maintain it and keep it from getting bugs and scratches etc.

When you choose a floor you should think about what kind of lifestyle you lead. You also might want to combine flooring, like having tiles throughout the main areas of the home and then carpets in the bedrooms. You can also choose to have laminate flooring in areas like the kitchen and bathrooms where they get dirty the most.

With flooring you should also think about the cost. Tiles and carpets are expensive and depending on the make so is laminate. If you have wooden floor boards underneath an ugly carpet, why not use what you have. Sand and polish them up and you will save a lot of money instead of re carpeting.

As you search through tons of floors you can get confused as to which one to choose. A tip when you are looking at carpets and tiles is to not think cheap. If you go for the cheapest options then you might end up with a house that you hate or that looks cheap. Rather spend that little extra and get the best so that you will be happy with it.

Once you have thought about all these different flooring options you should work out how much of the items you will need and also get quotes for the installation, unless you plan on doing it yourself.
